An Experience

Giriama Village Lounge as a vegan establishment was established on the 15th of December 2023. We are registered as a Restaurant, Café, Pub and Lodging business. We are building a culture of unity and success together as a community. 

Home Grown

While many regions of Kenya and East Africa experience significant drought and arid conditions, numerous Kenyans, including those in our community, successfully cultivate their own food. This practice is essential for survival in rural villages.

 
At Village Lounge and the surrounding areas, we actively plant, grow, and harvest a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes. Our crops include maize, sweet potatoes, rice, soybeans, cassava, paprika, tomatoes, aubergines, spinach, bananas, mangoes, jackfruit, coconuts, chili peppers, and pumpkins. These resources play a vital role in our daily lives.

Recognizing the local appreciation for flavorful vegan cuisine, I collaborated with skilled local chefs to develop a menu that highlights delicious dishes crafted from fresh, locally sourced herbs, fruits, and vegetables. Our goal is to celebrate Kenyan ingredients while offering an exceptional vegan dining experience.

Potato Curry

Our potato curry is a flavorful dish made with potatoes simmered in a spiced curry sauce.

It often includes onions, tomatoes, paprika and carrots with garlic, salt and curry.

The potatoes absorb the spices, creating a hearty and comforting meal. It’s versatile and can be enjoyed as a main dish with rice or chapati, or as a side dish.

Our rice, vegetable, and potato dish is a hearty, versatile meal that combines wholesome ingredients to create a balance of flavors and nutrients.

The rice provides a starchy, filling base, while the vegetables add a burst of color, flavor, and essential vitamins.

Potatoes, whether mashed, roasted, or cubed, contribute a comforting texture and additional carbs for energy.

This dish can be seasoned with herbs, spices, or sauces to suit various tastes and is perfect as a vegan meal.

Spaghetti Stir Fry

Our Vegan Spaghetti Stir Fry is a quick, nutritious, and flavorful dish that combines the versatility of spaghetti with the vibrant tastes of a classic stir fry. It’s perfect for busy weeknights or when you’re craving something satisfying and plant-based.

 
The meal typically includes: Spaghetti: Cooked al dente, then lightly stir-fried with vegetables to absorb the flavors.

Indulge in our expertly prepared curry-fried Ndengu, served with aromatic rice and soft chapati.

The Ndengu,(Lentils), are sautéed with a blend of fresh tomatoes, onions, and a carefully balanced mix of salt, pepper, and curry spices, creating a rich, flavorful dish that is both satisfying and delicious. Perfectly paired with warm rice and chapati for a complete, comforting meal.
